Growing up in an insular and discriminatory religious sub-culture, fearful of 'outsiders' and 'non-believers', my art signifies, to me, a breaking away, an exploration forbidden by the very institutions that built my spiritual foundation. Using digital photo-manipulation techniques, my work explores concepts of spirituality, religion, and individual belief, as well as coming to terms with my own crises of faith. I often incorporate text into these images in order to progress the story, since words are the primary vehicle of narratives. My art seeks to act as sacred narratives, meant to illustrate universal concepts- a personal mythology in their own right."
